Alternative OS
cherryEPG has been developed on Debian Linux and can be run on any of its derivatives. We have prepared installation packages for various OS distributions and versions. cherryEPG will be controlled and configured completely from CLI and throught the web interface. Therefore the installation of a graphical user interface and window manager is not required.
Please select the OS regarding to your preferences and install it.
Before continuing with cherryEPG installation ensure it’s up-to-date.
Now continue with the download of the correct .deb package from our web-page.
Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble Numbat) - LTS
The most up-to-date version of this OS.

Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) - LTS

Debian 12 (bookworm)
This is for users who wish to have more control over their system and have the required knowledge.

Debian 11 (bullseye)
In case you rely on legacy versions you can also continue with this still good OS.

Package installation
For installation you need to have administrative rights. Install the package with the package manager
sudo apt -y install /tmp/cherryepg.deb
During the installation of the package a new user cherryepg will be added to the system.
You need to set a password for the new user by running
sudo passwd cherryepg
Remember the password and username cherryepg as you will need it to login to the web-interface.
After installation the system is already playing a simple EIT stream. Login to the web-interface and customize it to fit your requirements.
